About

David Griffin, founder of DMG CONSTRUCTION, can look back on 25years in the building industry, on numerous projects where he gained his hands-on experience in formwork.

He started 1983 as a young carpenter in his home town in Scotland and  moved on to more interesting challenges. Heading south in 1986, he quickly found himself employed as a formwork carpenter on "at this time" the largest construction project in Europe: The Channel Tunnel. Spending 6years there, he gained valuable knowledge and experience needed to take him further afield. Mainland Europe, with its many different systems such as doka, FRAMAX, PERI, meva, systems that were unheard of in the UK, opened up new horizons.

Germany, Switzerland and Italy was his home for the next 7years and brought not only new experiences but also new languages.

In 1999 he arrived in Austria, working for a major construction company on a new 4year project, as formwork foreman. After 14months he was made up to general foreman for all UK-workers. When this project finished (summer 2004) he accepted an offer of the same job capacity in Belgium which also lasted 4years. In that time he was involved in 3 different projects for the Belgian company.

2008 brought the move to Holland. Building of new super structure loading bays and blast proof gantry walls in the steel foundry, corus, was about to get underway.

Working together with instructors and designers from doka he was given full control. Answerable for all formwork erected and concrete poured. With his input, experience and knowledge of this system, the job was soon finished on schedule. Companys still use that input and design idea to this day.
